Medical Physicist – Heavy Ion & Carbon Ion Therapy

About the role

The Clinical Medical Physicist will join the flagship cancer centre at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi to support the launch of a Carbon Ion Radiation Therapy (CIRT) programme. The role focuses on delivering, evaluating and optimizing heavy‑ion and other advanced radiation treatments while ensuring the highest standards of safety and quality.

Key responsibilities

• Perform treatment planning, quality assurance and weekly chart checks for external beam, SRS/SRBT, HDR brachytherapy, SRT and other modalities.
• Develop and maintain the radiation oncology physics program, policies and procedures.
• Participate in departmental research, education, presentations, meetings and chart rounds.
• Implement new treatment techniques and support advanced image‑guided technology, collaborating with vendors and IT on hardware/software issues.
• Ensure compliance with UAE regulations and internal quality‑management requirements.
• Liaise with clinical engineering for machine maintenance and repair.
• Contribute to administrative functions such as committees, task forces and performance‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Medical Physics qualification with at least five years (60 months) of clinical experience.
• Experience in particle therapy, preferably heavy‑ion (HIT) and carbon‑ion techniques.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and provide culturally sensitive patient care.
• Strong commitment to safety, quality management and regulatory compliance.
