About the role

The Digital & Data team in Abu Dhabi is looking for an experienced Microsoft Fabric Engineer to design, develop and continuously improve its enterprise data platform. The engineer builds scalable, secure and reliable data solutions that turn data from many business systems into governed, reusable data products supporting analytics, reporting, operational insights and customer data initiatives.

Key responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain scalable data solutions using Microsoft Fabric (OneLake, Lakehouses, Warehouses, Data Factory pipelines, Dataflow Gen2, notebooks and Spark jobs).
  • Build and manage data ingestion pipelines from enterprise systems, databases, APIs and approved external platforms.
  • Develop Bronze, Silver and Gold data layers using Medallion Architecture.
  • Implement data transformation with SQL, Python and PySpark, using Delta and Parquet formats and dimensional modelling.
  • Build automated data quality controls, including validation, reconciliation, duplicate detection and completeness checks.
  • Optimise SQL queries, Spark workloads, storage, refresh schedules and Fabric capacity.
  • Set up secure access controls (role-based access control, row-level security, Microsoft Entra ID) and data governance (lineage, ownership, privacy, auditability).
  • Manage source-controlled development, CI/CD pipelines and deployments across Development, Test and Production.
  • Set up monitoring, alerting and incident response, and troubleshoot pipeline failures and performance bottlenecks.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, architects and vendors, and integrate with applications such as Dynamics 365, Oracle Fusion, SharePoint and POS systems.
  • Support Power BI reporting and analytics, write technical documentation and share knowledge.

Required profile

  • Typically 5+ years in data engineering, data platforms or analytics engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Typically 3+ years of hands-on Microsoft Fabric experience, or closely related Azure data services experience applied to Fabric.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, Software Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong analytical thinking, troubleshooting and communication skills, and ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams.

Required skills

  • Microsoft Fabric: OneLake, Lakehouses, Warehouses, Data Factory, Dataflow Gen2, notebooks, Spark and deployment pipelines.
  • Advanced SQL and Python/PySpark.
  • Medallion Architecture, dimensional modelling, Delta and Parquet formats.
  • REST API integration, Git, Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
  • Data security and governance (RBAC, RLS, Microsoft Entra ID, data lineage).
  • Performance tuning, monitoring, logging, incident management and data quality frameworks.
  • Familiarity with Dynamics 365, Microsoft Customer Insights or Customer 360 is an advantage.
