Middle Office Specialist – Islamic Finance & Global Markets

About the role

The Middle Office Specialist in Islamic Finance acts as the operational bridge between Global Markets Sales, the Structuring team in Dubai and the back‑office. You will manage end‑to‑end coordination, validation and lifecycle of Sharia‑compliant OTC and structured transactions, ensuring strict adherence to the bank’s legal and Sharia guardrails.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate Commodity Murabaha (Tawarruq) trades with brokers, ensuring execution aligns with Islamic finance policy.
• Validate trade bookings for complex Islamic structured products and map them to conventional risk tickets.
• Draft and issue trade confirmations, DFT confirmations, undertakings and transaction schedules.
• Monitor settlement and post‑trade lifecycle, confirming cash‑flow settlement and certificate transfers.
• Reconcile daily cash and securities balances, including conventional legs of Murabaha transactions.
• Respond to audit requests and maintain auditable records of bookings, confirmations and legal documents.
• Document and update operational workflows for new Sharia‑compliant products.
• Assist structuring team with external Sharia auditors and internal compliance, keeping records accessible.
• Lead system integration testing (SIT) and user acceptance testing (UAT) for new modules or Islamic fintech wrappers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Banking, Islamic Jurisprudence or a related field.
• Minimum 6 years of operations experience in global markets (IRS, FX Derivatives, Repo, Structured deposits).
• Hands‑on experience with core banking systems such as Murex, Calypso or Kondor+.
• Proficiency in Python or Alteryx for automation is a plus.
• Experience with data‑visualisation tools (Power BI, Tableau) is also advantageous.
