Middle Python Backend Engineer (Real-Time Data & AI)

About the role

A product R&D company serving the iGaming ecosystem is looking for a middle-level Python backend engineer to build and own high-throughput, event-driven services powering real-time fraud detection, recommendations, personalization and GenAI across a multi-product SaaS platform. You will work alongside senior engineers and a hands-on engineering manager, owning your work end to end.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build production Python services: APIs, stream consumers, pipelines, feature stores, scheduled jobs and background workers
• Write and tune the SQL and schemas these services depend on
• Uphold engineering standards: code quality, testing, observability and deployment discipline
• Turn data scientists' experiments into reliable production services
• Diagnose and fix production problems, review code and take part in on-call rotations

Required profile

• 3+ years of backend engineering experience
• Experience owning a service in production
• Good working knowledge of Docker and CI/CD, enough to partner with DevOps

Required skills

• Strong Python: async, data processing, Redis, Kafka and database clients
• Deep database skills: SQL, query plans, indexes, transactions, isolation levels and concurrency
• Experience with relational and non-relational stores

Nice to have: Neo4j, PostgreSQL internals, PySpark, Databricks, Kubernetes, LLM/vector-store systems, fraud/recsys/personalization experience, Prometheus and Grafana, and SaaS or high-scale product experience.
