About the role
The Museum Exhibition Production Officer oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of museum exhibitions, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the production process for temporary and permanent exhibitions from concept to deinstallation.
- Prepare and manage exhibition budgets, track expenditures and implement cost‑effective solutions.
- Develop detailed production and installation schedules, monitor progress and adjust plans to meet deadlines.
- Liaise with curators, designers, conservators, registrars and other museum staff to translate exhibition requirements into actionable plans.
- Source, select and oversee external suppliers, fabricators and contractors, ensuring compliance with museum standards.
- Supervise fabrication, transportation and installation of cases, graphics, lighting and multimedia elements.
- Ensure all production activities comply with health, safety and security policies.
- Maintain accurate records of production processes, contracts and installation plans.
- Identify and resolve production challenges quickly, adapting to last‑minute changes.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Museum Studies, Art, Design, Project Management or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience in exhibition production, project management or a similar role within a museum, gallery or cultural institution.
- Strong organisational and multitasking abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, floor plans and design specifications.
- Knowledge of museum standards, conservation requirements and best practices in exhibition production.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends during installation periods.
