Officer, Baggage Handling Systems

About the role

The Officer Baggage Handling Systems is responsible for overseeing daily baggage handling operations across all terminals of Abu Dhabi International Airport. The role ensures efficient allocation of resources, coordinates maintenance, and implements contingency plans to maintain uninterrupted baggage flow.

Key responsibilities

• Support BHS Operations & Maintenance Supervisors and Control Room Operators to achieve departmental goals.
• Oversee day‑to‑day BHS operations, report and escalate non‑conformities, and ensure compliance with airport policies and regulations.
• Plan and monitor shift allocation, conduct routine inspections, and manage preventive and corrective maintenance requests.
• Attend major system stoppages, implement Business Continuity Plans, and provide regular performance reports to management.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve operational issues and maintain service continuity.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Operations or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in baggage system operations and ramp operations.
• Sound knowledge of GCAA regulations, IATA procedures, and aviation laws related to baggage handling.

Required skills

• Knowledge of GCAA regulations and IATA procedures for baggage operations.
• Familiarity with aviation laws and local/international regulatory requirements.
