Operator - Finishing Machine

About the role

The operator is responsible for setting up, running and maintaining a range of finishing equipment used in the production of printed and bound materials. The role ensures that each machine delivers output that meets the required quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and operate finishing machines such as Kolbus perfect binders, Muller Martini saddle stitchers, folding, sewing, Wholemberg gathering and cutting machines.
• Configure automatic die‑cutting, foiling, embossing, Brausee folder‑gluer and Champion bag‑fabrication machines according to job specifications and material type.
• Monitor output for binding strength, stitching accuracy, fold precision and cutting alignment.
• Perform visual and manual quality checks on finished products.
• Carry out routine cleaning and follow the preventive‑maintenance schedule.
• Identify and promptly report mechanical issues or misfeeds to the foreman or maintenance team.

Required profile

• Experience operating a variety of finishing and binding equipment.
• Ability to read and follow technical job specifications.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
• Capability to perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance tasks.
• Willingness to report equipment problems promptly.
