Ophthalmology Consultant

About the role

Al Emadi Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ophthalmology Consultant to join its team of medical professionals. The consultant provides comprehensive ophthalmic care to patients, covering diagnosis, treatment and management of a wide range of eye conditions and diseases.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct thorough eye examinations to diagnose and treat eye conditions, diseases and injuries.
• Perform ophthalmic procedures and surgeries, such as cataract surgery, LASIK, corneal transplants and retinal surgeries.
• Interpret diagnostic tests such as visual field tests, OCT scans and fundus photography to guide treatment decisions.
• Prescribe medications, eyeglasses, contact lenses or other appropriate treatments.
• Collaborate with optometrists, ophthalmic technicians and nurses for coordinated patient care.
• Stay up to date with advances in ophthalmic research, technology and treatment.
• Take part in teaching medical students, residents and fellows, and give presentations or lectures at medical conferences.

Required profile

• Medical degree from a recognised institution.
• Board certification or equivalent in Ophthalmology.
• At least 10 years of experience as an Ophthalmology Consultant in a reputable healthcare facility.
• Proven track record of performing ophthalmic surgeries and procedures with excellent outcomes.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with patients, colleagues and staff.
