Orthopaedic Surgery Specialist

About the role

The Orthopaedic Surgery Specialist provides comprehensive orthopaedic care to patients at Royal Medical Centre Karama, covering diagnosis, operative procedures and post‑operative management. The role involves both outpatient and inpatient responsibilities, ensuring high‑quality clinical outcomes and adherence to hospital standards.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose orthopaedic conditions and deliver pre‑operative, operative and post‑operative care, including complex cases within competence.
• Perform major and minor orthopaedic surgeries and coordinate with anaesthetists on appropriate anaesthesia.
• Provide outpatient orthopaedic services in the OPD and offer specialist consultations to physicians and surgeons.
• Assume after‑hours responsibility for admitted orthopaedic patients, conducting daily rounds and ensuring continuity of care.
• Maintain accurate medical records, monitor use of supporting services (nursing, radiology, pathology) and ensure availability of specialised equipment.
• Stay updated on advances in orthopaedic techniques and integrate new procedures when appropriate.

Required profile

• Graduated from an approved medical school with one year internship and three years residency; board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Medicine or equivalent.
• Minimum three years of orthopaedic practice post‑certification, with at least two years as a licensed specialist.
• Current licensure in country of origin and a valid DOH licence to practice as an Orthopaedic Specialist in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
• Excellent oral and written English; Arabic knowledge is desirable.
• Demonstrated clinical judgment, professional leadership and ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
