PE Teacher

About the role

The English College Dubai is looking for a PE teacher. The role covers teaching and learning, pastoral care of a tutor group and wider school duties, including delivering PERMA and Moral, Social and Cultural lessons during tutor time.

Key responsibilities

• Teach with excellent subject knowledge, stretching the most able learners at KS5 and preparing students for exam specifications
• Plan learning using contextual data, adapt practice so all students make progress and give appropriate challenge, including to More Able and Talented learners
• Support learners with additional learning needs, English as an additional language and English Language Learners
• Use formative and summative assessments, mark work according to school policy and track attainment and progress
• Communicate regularly with parents through reports, parents' evenings and individual contact
• Help create warm, caring, academically driven classrooms and high-quality displays
• Look after the emotional and social development of a tutor group, monitor attendance, punctuality and behaviour, and deliver PERMA and Moral, Social and Cultural lessons
• Attend assemblies, work with the Head of Year, safeguard children and young people, and take part in school events
• Run an extracurricular club for at least two terms, cover for absent colleagues, follow a break/lunch rota and take part in school improvement plans

Required profile

• Good honours degree
• QTS or PGCE teaching qualification, preferably from the UK
• At least two years' teaching experience
• Experience teaching relevant UK curricula
• Willingness to contribute to departmental resources, enrichment activities and the wider curriculum
• ICPC and UK enhanced DBS (or equivalent) police check
