Perfusionist

About the role

A client of Black Pearl Consult in Abu Dhabi, which is part of one of the UAE's largest government-affiliated healthcare networks known for advanced cardiac care and surgical services, is looking for an experienced, detail-oriented Perfusionist. The role involves operating and managing cardiopulmonary bypass machines and other extracorporeal circulation equipment during open-heart surgery and related procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and monitor cardiopulmonary bypass machines and other extracorporeal circulation equipment during cardiac surgeries.
• Manage blood flow, oxygenation and temperature regulation to keep patients stable during surgery.
• Collaborate with cardiac surgeons, anesthesiologists and operating room staff.
• Prepare, calibrate and maintain perfusion equipment.
• Monitor patient vital signs and respond to changes during procedures.
• Handle blood conservation techniques, hemodilution and anticoagulation management.
• Document procedures and keep accurate records in line with hospital and regulatory standards.
• Stay up to date on perfusion techniques, safety protocols and medical advances.
• Ensure compliance with infection control, safety and quality assurance policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Perfusion Technology or a related medical field.
• Valid certification or license in Perfusion (UAE DOH/DHA/MOH) or eligibility to obtain one.
• At least 3 years of clinical experience as a Perfusionist in a hospital or cardiac surgical setting.
• In-depth knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology and extracorporeal circulation.
• Ability to stay calm and make quick decisions in high-pressure surgical environments.
• Excellent teamwork, communication and patient-care skills.
