Plant Manager – Metal Recycling Operations

About the role

The Plant Manager will lead a high‑capacity ferrous scrap processing yard, overseeing heavy hydraulic shearing lines and multi‑shift operations. This senior role is responsible for meeting production targets while ensuring safety, quality, and cost efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Manage large‑scale ferrous scrap processing, including 1,000–1,250+ tonne hydraulic shears.
• Plan and optimise production to achieve operational KPIs such as tonnes/hour, yield, and downtime.
• Coordinate excavators, material handlers, cranes, loaders, trucks and container‑loading activities.
• Implement preventive maintenance programmes to minimise equipment downtime.
• Lead, develop and supervise operators, technicians, supervisors and yard labour.
• Control inventory, stock management and dispatch of finished product.
• Maintain strict HSE, fire‑prevention and housekeeping standards.
• Collaborate with purchasing, logistics, quality and senior management.

Required profile

• 10+ years in metal recycling, scrap processing or heavy industrial operations.
• Minimum 5 years in a plant or yard management position.
• Proven experience with high‑capacity hydraulic scrap shears.
• Strong knowledge of ferrous scrap grades and steel‑mill specifications.
• Experience managing large‑volume yards and multi‑shift teams.
• Fluent English; Arabic, Hindi or Urdu an advantage.
