Platform Engineer – Java Backend

About the role

Revolut is looking for a Platform Engineer to own and evolve the core backend systems that power its global financial super‑app. You will work on high‑throughput, concurrent code that serves millions of customers and supports the broader engineering organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and scale core platform components such as the event store and transactional infrastructure.
• Write production‑grade, high‑throughput Java code that handles massive concurrency.
• Collaborate with multiple engineering teams to solve cross‑team challenges.
• Conduct code reviews and mentor peers on system design and best practices.

Required profile

• 7+ years of backend engineering experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or a related field.
• Proven track record of building foundational platforms used by other engineers.
• Experience with distributed systems at meaningful scale.
• Strong communication, organisational skills and fluency in English.

Required skills

• Java (production fluency) and readiness to work primarily in Java.
• Concurrent programming and high‑throughput system design.
• Distributed systems concepts and implementation.
• Code review and system architecture design.
