PLC & SCADA Engineer

About the role

The PLC & SCADA Engineer will design, program, test, commission, troubleshoot and maintain PLC, HMI and SCADA systems for water and wastewater treatment plants in Dubai.

Key responsibilities

• Design PLC control systems, develop software, and create SCADA/HMI applications based on project specifications.
• Prepare control philosophies, I/O lists, network architecture and automation documentation, and review P&IDs and electrical drawings.
• Develop PLC programs for treatment processes and configure communication protocols such as Modbus, Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP and OPC.
• Develop graphical SCADA screens, configure alarms, event logging, trending, reporting and user security.
• Perform FAT and SAT, commission systems on‑site, conduct I/O testing, loop checking and support plant start‑up.
• Coordinate with instrumentation, electrical and mechanical teams, and integrate field devices like flow meters, analyzers and transmitters.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Automation, Electrical, Electronics or Instrumentation Engineering.
• 3–8 years of industrial automation experience, with at least 5 years on water or wastewater treatment projects.
• Experience with PLC platforms (Siemens S7‑1200/1500/TIA Portal, S7‑300/400, Allen‑Bradley, Schneider, Mitsubishi, Omron) and SCADA platforms (Siemens WinCC, FactoryTalk View, WinCC Unified, Weintek, etc.).

Required skills

• PLC programming and configuration.
• SCADA development and HMI design.
• Industrial networking protocols (Modbus RTU/TCP, Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, OPC).
• Instrumentation integration (flow, pressure, level, pH, conductivity, DO, turbidity, chlorine analyzers).
• Commissioning, FAT/SAT, troubleshooting and documentation.
