PMC Mechanical Engineer - Rotating Equipment (Site Based)

About the role

Wood is looking for an experienced PMC Mechanical Engineer (rotating) to work site based in Abu Dhabi. The role provides engineering support and supervision for the installation, inspection, testing, commissioning and start-up of rotating equipment, ensuring work is done safely, in line with project specifications, quality standards and schedule requirements for high-profile clients.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise the installation, alignment and assembly of rotating equipment such as pumps, compressors, turbines and generators.
• Ensure construction and installation comply with project specifications, engineering drawings and industry standards.
• Inspect sites and monitor contractor performance for quality workmanship.
• Review and resolve technical queries, non-conformance reports (NCRs) and field engineering issues.
• Witness equipment testing, mechanical completion and pre-commissioning; support commissioning and start-up teams in troubleshooting equipment issues.
• Coordinate with vendors, contractors, construction teams and other engineering disciplines.
• Verify QA/QC requirements are implemented and maintained, and review method statements, ITPs and construction procedures.
• Monitor site progress, provide status reports, and take part in punch list clearance, handover and final acceptance.
• Ensure compliance with HSE requirements and promote safe work practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognised university.
• 10+ years of experience in rotating equipment engineering within Oil & Gas, petrochemical, LNG, refinery or energy projects.
• Proven experience in the installation, inspection, testing, commissioning and troubleshooting of rotating equipment.
