About the role

The Future‑Generation of Resilient and Infrastructure Design Technology Hub (Future‑GRID TecH) at NYU Abu Dhabi, led by Professor Mohamed Moustafa, is seeking a Post‑Doctoral Associate to advance structural materials 3D printing and modeling. The role focuses on developing new structural steel and ultra‑high‑performance concrete (UHPC) systems, leveraging industry‑scale additive manufacturing equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead multiple research projects on emerging structural materials, additive construction, and computational modeling.
• Utilize state‑of‑the‑art 3D concrete and metal printers to fabricate and test structural components.
• Perform finite‑element simulations of UHPC and 3D‑printed components.
• Publish findings in peer‑reviewed journals and conferences, mentor undergraduate students, and contribute to grant proposals.

Required profile

• PhD in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Material Engineering or related field.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Proven research record in structural engineering, steel and concrete design, and finite‑element modeling.

Required skills

• Finite‑element modeling and simulation.
• Programming in Python and C++.
• Additive manufacturing / 3D printing.
• Computational mechanics.
• Machine learning and artificial intelligence (preferred).
• GUI development.
• Laboratory and multi‑scale experimental testing.
