Practical Nurse – Clinical Support (Medical)

About the role

The Practical Nurse provides patient‑centered care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, following established care plans and the Abu Dhabi Nursing Code of Conduct. This role supports the mission, vision and values of SSMC in an outpatient clinical setting.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and implement nursing care for patients under RN supervision.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including meals and hygiene.
• Report significant changes in patient condition to the RN immediately.
• Respond to emergencies according to organizational policies.
• Maintain accurate verbal and written communication and documentation with patients and their representatives.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to deliver efficient, patient‑centered care.
• Document care using electronic medical records and assist with related IT tasks.
• Support RNs and clerical staff with administrative duties as needed.
• Provide patients and families with comprehensive health information and resources.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient and family information.
• Manage inventory of examination room supplies and ensure rooms are prepared for each patient.
• Room patients, record vital signs, prepare them for exams or procedures, and give follow‑up instructions.

Required profile

• Licensed Practical Nurse operating under RN supervision.
• Ability to follow established care plans and adhere to professional nursing standards.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with patients, families and the care team.
• Commitment to confidentiality and professional ethics.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
• Basic clinical skills such as vital signs measurement and patient rooming.
