Practical Nurse – Patient Care

About the role

The Practical Nurse at Corniche Hospital provides age‑appropriate patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This role supports the hospital’s mission, vision and values while adhering to the Abu Dhabi Professional Nurses Code of Conduct.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care according to hospital policies and the nursing scope of practice.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including meals and hygiene, following the care plan.
• Monitor and report patient observations, changes in condition, and medication side‑effects to the Registered Nurse.
• Document care accurately in electronic medical records and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team.
• Respond to emergencies and maintain a safe, secure, and infection‑controlled environment.
• Support new staff, nursing students and assist with administrative duties as required.

Required profile

• Practical Nurse qualification; not licensed for independent practice.
• Works under the direction of a Registered Nurse and follows the Nursing Scope of Practice defined by the regulatory body.
• Commitment to patient dignity, confidentiality and the hospital’s professional standards.
• Ability to recognise medication indications, side‑effects and report them promptly.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
