Pre-Award Senior Specialist

About the role

The Pre-Award Senior Specialist is responsible for preparing and submitting accurate, timely, and compliant grant applications for various research initiatives at Khalifa University. The role supports faculty and staff throughout the proposal development process, ensuring adherence to all relevant guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit grant proposals to industry, federal, state, local agencies, and foundations, meeting strict timelines and guidelines.
• Assist faculty and support staff in developing proposals, including budgets, justifications, and compliance with university and sponsor requirements.
• Review grant accounts, make recommendations, and follow up on changes.
• Validate proposal submissions for accuracy and completeness.
• Monitor agency requirements and deadlines, establishing timelines with department personnel.
• Create budget models aligned with project expectations.
• Prepare large‑scale, multi‑disciplinary proposals and coordinate with external stakeholders.
• Identify potential funding opportunities in collaboration with the Associate Director of Contracts and Grants.
• Maintain tracking systems for contracts, subcontracts, and agreements.
• Serve as liaison to the Grants Management Office and respond to senior management inquiries.
• Assist the Pre‑Award Associate Director in delivering training to PIs and research personnel.
• Ensure compliance with information security and confidentiality policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Finance or Engineering.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in grant administration or related fields.
