Principal Design Engineer - Water & Wastewater

About the role

AECOM is looking for a Principal Design Engineer for water and wastewater (wet utilities) projects in Dubai. The role provides strategic leadership and technical authority for complex water and wastewater infrastructure projects, working closely with clients such as Dubai Municipality and DEWA.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction and leadership for wet utilities projects, aligned with organizational goals and client requirements
• Act as technical authority and subject matter expert in wet utilities engineering
• Oversee planning, design and execution of projects so they are delivered on time, within budget and to quality standards
• Manage risk and ensure compliance with regulations and standards
• Engage clients, stakeholders and regulators, lead meetings, presentations and negotiations
• Mentor junior engineers and technical staff and foster collaboration and continuous improvement
• Develop innovative solutions using advanced modeling software such as InfoWorks and InfoWater, and promote sustainable, resilient design
• Lead proposal development and maintain relationships with key clients for repeat business

Required profile

• Bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering or a related field from a university recognized by the UAE SOE
• Minimum 15 years of experience in wet utilities engineering, including leadership roles, with at least 8 years in the UAE or another GCC country
• Proven track record managing large-scale, multidisciplinary projects
• Professional Engineer (Peng) certification, MICE or similar required; LEED AP or PMP highly desirable

Required skills

• Hydrology and hydraulic modeling, and municipal infrastructure design
• Sewer GEMS, Water GEMS, InfoWorks, InfoWater and GIS applications
• Leadership, team management, communication and stakeholder management
