Principal Engineer – Firmware

About the role

EDGE is seeking a highly experienced Principal Engineer – Firmware to lead the design, development, integration, and certification of advanced firmware solutions for mission‑critical defence systems.

Key responsibilities

• Lead architecture, design, development, integration and verification of FPGA and microcontroller‑based firmware systems.
• Establish and enforce firmware engineering standards, certification practices and development methodologies in line with defence requirements.
• Chair technical design reviews and oversee creation of Firmware Requirements Specifications and Interface Control Documents.
• Mentor engineering teams and contribute to technology roadmaps, tool strategies and future firmware capabilities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s, Honours or Master’s degree in Electronics, Software, Computer Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in FPGA and/or microcontroller firmware development.
• At least 3 years of experience supporting software/firmware certification, classification, compliance or assurance in regulated industries.
