Principal Engineer, Guidance and Control

About the role

EDGE Group is looking for a Principal Engineer to lead the development and implementation of advanced Guidance & Control (G&C) systems for guided weapon platforms. The role combines technical leadership, mentorship, and hands‑on involvement in flight‑test and verification activities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design, modelling, simulation and algorithm development for G&C, including tracking, estimation and optimisation filters.
• Provide technical mentorship to engineers, guide decision‑making and enforce best engineering practices.
• Oversee system verification and flight‑test campaigns, covering SIL, PIL and HIL testing, pre‑flight preparation, performance verification and post‑flight analysis.
• Establish and evolve G&C capabilities, laboratories, tools and explore emerging algorithms and technologies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Embedded Systems or related engineering discipline.
• 10‑15 years of experience in guided weapon or missile systems, with strong expertise in G&C algorithms, modelling, simulation and system verification.
• Minimum 5 years of engineering leadership or management experience, demonstrating ability to mentor and guide technical teams.
• Experience across the full weapon‑system lifecycle, including mission planning, flight testing and post‑flight analysis (preferred).
