Principal Engineer - Systems Integration

About the role

KATIM, an innovation‑driven company within EDGE Group, is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead the integration of complex defence communications and command‑and‑control (C2) systems across multiple domains.

Key responsibilities

• Lead system integration activities for complex Defence Communications and C2 systems.
• Integrate hardware, software, networks, and infrastructure across air, land, maritime, and joint environments.
• Define and manage system interfaces, interoperability, and interface control documentation.
• Lead integration testing, troubleshooting, defect resolution, and operational readiness activities.
• Support platform integration trials, field deployments, customer demonstrations, and interoperability testing.
• Collaborate with engineering, cybersecurity, networking, customers, suppliers, and platform teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electronics, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 12+ years of experience in Systems Engineering/System Integration within Defence, Aerospace, Security, or mission‑critical environments.
• Proven experience integrating complex hardware, software, and distributed systems.
• Experience with platform integration, operational environments, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Required skills

• Defence Communications, C2/C4ISR, and Mission Systems.
• Networking protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, routing, messaging, and OSI‑layer communications.
• System interoperability, interface management, and Systems‑of‑Systems integration.
• Use of network/system test tools including MATLAB and Simulink.
• Knowledge of Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and simulation environments.
