Principal Engineer - Test And Verification

About the role

We are seeking a Principal Engineer to lead test and verification activities for a sophisticated Defence Tactical Data Link, Communications and Command & Control (C2) system. The role involves planning, coordinating and executing verification across the programme lifecycle, ensuring all requirements, interfaces and performance objectives are fully demonstrated and traceable.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain verification plans, strategies, acceptance criteria and test methodologies (both automated and manual).
• Analyse system and subsystem requirements to select appropriate verification methods and ensure traceability within the digital engineering environment.
• Design, implement and execute test cases covering functional, interface, network, operational scenario, performance and regression testing.
• Support integration lab, factory acceptance, site acceptance and operational acceptance activities.
• Record, analyse and report test results, anomalies and defects using formal metrics and summary test reports.
• Utilise automated toolsets for HMI, API and network‑level testing and manage defect resolution.

Required profile

• Degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in test and verification for defence communications or C2 systems.
• Proven experience working with Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools such as Enterprise Architect and requirements management platforms like Jama Connect.
• Ability to work in a highly regulated defence environment and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
