Principal Engineer (Water and Wastewater)

About the role

Parsons is seeking a highly experienced Principal Engineer to lead complex water and wastewater projects in Abu Dhabi. The role combines advanced civil engineering design, hydraulic modeling, and team leadership within a dynamic, growth‑focused environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform complex engineering and design assignments for water and wastewater networks.
• Prepare and supervise engineering computations, material quantity take‑offs, estimates, surveys and detailed designs.
• Develop detailed requisitions for material purchase, services and sub‑contracts.
• Review supplier drawing sub‑mittals and conduct technical bid analyses.
• Supervise the preparation and issuance of specifications, data sheets and other construction documents.
• Provide input to CAD designers and execute CAD/3D modeling tasks using specialized software.
• Lead a multidisciplinary team of design engineers, hydraulic modelers and draftsmen.
• Develop hydraulic models using Bentley SewerCAD, SewerGems, InfoSWMM and Infoworks CS.
• Prepare technical specifications and comprehensive design reports.
• Liaise with Gulf‑region authorities to obtain NOCs and design approvals.

Required profile

• 4‑year degree in Civil Engineering and a master’s degree in a water‑related discipline.
• 15‑20 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years in the UAE/GCC.
• Proven track record managing small to medium design teams.
• Professional qualification such as PE, CIWEM or ICE preferred.
• Familiarity with Gulf water, irrigation and firefighting authority regulations (DEWA, ADDC, etc.).
