Principal HSE Engineer – Technical Safety & Design

About the role

The Principal HSE Engineer (Technical Safety & Loss Prevention) will solve unique, complex problems that have a broad impact on the business. This senior specialist will lead safety engineering for large offshore EPC projects, delivering innovative, reliable and cost‑effective solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead offshore, process‑intensive EPC projects, ensuring timely, high‑quality delivery.
• Develop and approve design HSE & fire‑protection philosophies, safety study scopes, equipment specifications and fire‑water hydraulic calculations (PIPENET or equivalent).
• Conduct and coordinate safety workshops such as HAZID and HAZOP, and review safety study close‑out reports.
• Manage discipline engineering design, interface with other disciplines, and ensure clash‑free designs.
• Prepare, review and approve vendor and subcontractor submittals, technical notes and design verification checks.
• Provide technical support during fabrication and construction, including defect identification and rectification.
• Lead large engineering teams, mentor junior engineers and supervise design deliverables.
• Participate in 3D model reviews, technical quality audits and capture lessons learned.

Required profile

• Extensive safety studies and loss‑prevention background on offshore gas compression projects.
• Proven experience leading large EPC projects and multiple‑office project execution.
• Strong communication skills to explain complex ideas and influence outcomes.
• Ability to manage resources, forecast requirements and drive project schedules.

Required skills

• PIPENET (or equivalent) for fire‑water hydraulic calculations.
• HAZID and HAZOP safety workshop facilitation.
• Fire protection design and safety study development.
• Offshore EPC project leadership and loss‑prevention engineering.
