Principal HSE Engineer – Technical Safety & HSE Design

About the role

The Principal HSE Engineer (Technical Safety & HSE Design) will lead offshore, process‑intensive EPC projects, delivering high‑quality safety solutions on time and within budget. This senior specialist role requires innovative thinking to solve complex HSE engineering challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Lead large offshore EPC projects, ensuring timely delivery of all HSE deliverables.
• Develop and approve design HSE and fire‑protection philosophies, safety study scopes, equipment specifications, and firewater hydraulic calculations.
• Provide inputs to P&ID mark‑ups for firewater and deluge systems, including hose reels, monitors, hydrants, and nozzles.
• Coordinate and facilitate safety workshops such as HAZID and HAZOP.
• Review and approve third‑party safety study reports, vendor data, and technical notes related to fire‑protection and safety systems.
• Prepare and sign‑off safety study close‑out reports, layout drawings, and cause‑and‑effect matrices.

Required profile

• Extensive background in safety studies and loss prevention for offshore gas compression projects.
• Proven experience leading EPC projects in a technical safety capacity.
• Strong ability to devise reliable, cost‑effective solutions for complex engineering problems.

Required skills

• PIPENET or equivalent fire‑water hydraulic calculation software.
• Offshore EPC project leadership.
• Safety study development and review.
• HAZID/HAZOP workshop facilitation.
• P&ID markup for fire‑water and deluge systems.
