Principal Mechanical Engineer

About the role

Worley is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead complex mechanical design and procurement activities for onshore oil & gas projects in the Middle East. The role involves applying advanced engineering techniques, providing technical consultancy, and ensuring project success across the full lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute discipline execution strategies, cost estimates, and technical proposals for rotating equipment.
• Lead project execution activities, including scope, cost, and schedule coordination with other disciplines.
• Prepare engineering studies, calculations, specifications, datasheets, and procurement documentation for rotating equipment.
• Support procurement through bid evaluation, vendor reviews, and certification activities.
• Provide on‑site support during construction, commissioning, and hand‑over, resolving technical issues with site personnel.

Required profile

• 4‑ or 5‑year engineering degree in a relevant science or engineering discipline.
• Extensive experience in design, FEED and detailed design of rotating equipment for oil & gas, refinery or petrochemical facilities.
• Proven ability to lead technical workshops (design review, HAZID, HAZOP, constructability, reliability, quality).
• Strong knowledge of local and international codes, especially API standards for rotating equipment.

Required skills

• Design and selection of rotating equipment (gas turbines, centrifugal compressors, rotary compressors, pumps, fans, blowers).
• Advanced knowledge of API‑610, API‑617, API‑618, API‑682, API‑614, API‑674, API‑675.
• Preparation of mechanical specifications, datasheets, requisitions and technical bid evaluations.
• Experience with procurement support, vendor management, and package management for equipment purchase.
