Principal Safety Engineer – Offshore (Detailed Engineering)

About the role

Worley is seeking a Principal Safety Engineer to lead HSE and process safety design for offshore projects. You will ensure compliance with contract, code and legislation while delivering high‑quality engineering deliverables on time and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Manage project deliverables, proposals, man‑hour estimates and execution methodology.
• Identify HSE requirements, develop and implement Project HSE Plans, Loss Prevention and F&G Philosophy documents.
• Coordinate HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, PHSER and 3D model reviews and ensure design compliance across all disciplines.
• Prepare hazardous area schedules, fire protection layouts, fire‑and‑gas detection philosophy and system design deliverables.
• Design firewater systems, perform hydraulic analysis using PIPENET, and develop deluge, foam and sprinkler system specifications.
• Apply ADNOC offshore engineering practices, international codes (NFPA, API, EI) and corporate HSE manuals.
• Conduct qualitative and quantitative risk assessments, including dispersion, fire/explosion modelling, COMAH, safety case and flare radiation studies.
• Support procurement activities, cost estimation, MTOs, material requests and post‑order VDR reviews.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or equivalent) with membership in a relevant engineering institution.
• Knowledge of UAE and international safety legislation and standards.
• Proven experience in offshore safety and risk design, preferably with ADNOC or similar operators.

Required skills

• HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, PHSER methodologies.
• Fire and gas detection philosophy, active and passive fire protection design.
• Firewater system design, hydraulic analysis (PIPENET), deluge/foam/sprinkler systems.
• Qualitative and quantitative risk assessments, dispersion and explosion modelling.
• COMAH, safety case preparation, flare radiation studies, risk ranking (EERA, ESSA, TRIA, HSEIA).
• Procurement support, cost estimation, material take‑offs (MTOs) and related documentation.
