Procurement Specialist - CNC, Casting & Fabrication

About the role

EDGE, an advanced technology group headquartered in the UAE and based in Abu Dhabi, is hiring a Procurement Specialist for its POWERTECH propulsion development and production programs. The role sources, negotiates and manages suppliers of technically complex manufactured components covering CNC machining, casting and fabrication. Candidates must have proven procurement experience across all three areas.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end sourcing and procurement of CNC-machined, cast and fabricated components, including developing RFQs and obtaining quotations from local and international suppliers.
• Evaluate bids commercially and technically with Engineering and Quality, issue purchase orders and oversee orders through manufacture, inspection, delivery and closure.
• Support make-or-buy and sourcing-strategy decisions, and assess supplier capability against drawing tolerances, materials, volumes, quality and delivery schedules.
• Identify, qualify and develop suppliers, monitor their performance and lead commercial discussions on delays, price changes and capacity constraints.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, lead times, MOQs and tooling costs, and run cost analysis and should-cost analysis.
• Monitor long-lead materials and supply-chain risks, support localization of regional manufacturers and expedite critical orders.
• Work with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Program Management, Finance and Production on prototype, development, qualification and serial-production procurement.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Administration or a related discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of procurement, sourcing or supply-chain experience in technically complex manufacturing environments.
• Mandatory hands-on experience with CNC machining, casting and fabrication suppliers; aerospace, defence, propulsion, automotive or precision engineering experience is highly desirable.
• Experience negotiating with machine shops, foundries and fabrication companies.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of engineering drawings, tolerances, materials, manufacturing methods and lead times.
• ERP/MRP systems such as SAP or equivalent.
• Advantageous: supplier qualification, FAI, AS9100 and aerospace manufacturing requirements.
• CIPS, ISM, APICS or equivalent certification is advantageous.
• Preferred: practical knowledge of CNC milling and turning, 3-/4-/5-axis machining, precision machining, investment and sand casting, aerospace metals, sheet-metal fabrication, welding, brazing, forming, GD&T, RFQ evaluation and supplier risk management.
