Project Buyer – Manufacturing & Operations

About the role

Leoni is seeking a Project Buyer to lead purchasing activities across the product lifecycle, from request for quotation (RFQ) to end‑of‑life (EOL). The role supports global sourcing, cost optimisation and supplier management for automotive cable and wiring systems.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee purchasing from RFQ through SOP to EOL, ensuring alignment with project targets and purchasing strategies.
• Lead global sourcing of new components, technologies and suppliers, managing negotiations, agreements and qualification events.
• Drive material cost targets, conduct BOM and total‑cost‑of‑ownership analysis, and implement cost‑reduction initiatives such as VAVE, resourcing and localisation.
• Support pre‑development and customer projects by developing purchasing concepts and contributing to make‑or‑buy decisions.
• Conduct global inquiries throughout product lifecycle stages and support change processes (e.g., PCR) while ensuring data availability for production and ordering.
• Act as the purchasing interface across departments, participate in project milestones and integrate market, supplier and technology insights.
• Monitor supplier milestones, capacity and compliance with standards and regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of purchasing or supply‑chain experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong analytical abilities with experience in cost analysis, benchmarking and performance measurement.
• Professional proficiency in English and advanced use of Microsoft Office and reporting tools.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and time‑management skills.
