Project Director – Major Highways & Bridges

About the role

AECOM is looking for a Project Director to lead the delivery of large‑scale highways, bridges and transport programmes in Dubai, primarily for the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). The role combines overall project leadership with contractual, commercial and safety responsibilities to ensure delivery excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end project delivery, managing scope, schedule, budget, quality and safety.
• Develop and implement the Project Execution Plan, Health & Safety Plan, Control Plan and other core documentation.
• Serve as the primary client interface for all contractual, technical and commercial matters.
• Negotiate scope changes, variation orders and contractual amendments.
• Oversee procurement, subcontractor management and value‑engineering initiatives to optimise lifecycle cost.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline; chartered status or professional membership preferred.
• Minimum 20 years of experience managing large infrastructure projects, including highways and bridges.
• 5–10 years direct experience on Dubai RTA projects and a proven record of delivering programmes over AED 1 billion.
• Strong commercial, contract and claims management expertise.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams in a matrix environment.
