Project General Director - Construction

About the role

Careers International is recruiting a Project General Director in Dubai for a civil construction project. The role leads the entire project lifecycle, from design and planning through to execution and completion, and oversees the construction manager, engineers and other essential personnel.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of the construction project lifecycle and make critical decisions so deadlines, quality standards, safety and client requirements are met.
• Hire and lead project management and construction teams, and ensure they are properly staffed, skilled and resourced.
• Work with the design team and architects, and help create accurate cost and material estimates and resource plans.
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive project schedule and adjust timelines to meet deadlines.
• Oversee daily site operations, quality assurance and compliance with building codes, safety regulations and industry standards.
• Define project milestones and performance metrics, and report regularly to senior management and stakeholders on progress, challenges and changes to timelines or budgets.
• Act as the main point of contact for the client, senior management, external contractors and regulatory bodies.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
• At least 10 years of experience in the construction industry, including at least 5 years in a leadership role on large-scale projects.
• Proven track record of delivering complex projects on time, within budget and to quality standards.
• Strong leadership skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Required skills

• Construction management software such as MS Project, Procore or Builder-Trend.
• Deep knowledge of construction processes, building codes, industry standards and safety regulations.
• Ability to manage project budgets, schedules and timelines.
