Project Manager, Electrical Substation Works

About the role

The Project Manager leads and manages the execution of electrical substation projects, delivering 11kV/33kV substations and associated distribution network works in line with TAQA standards, project specifications, quality requirements and HSE regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the planning, execution, testing, commissioning and handover of electrical substation projects.
• Lead project teams, subcontractors and site personnel to meet project objectives within budget and schedule.
• Coordinate with TAQA, consultants, clients and utility authorities on approvals, inspections and energization.
• Monitor progress, costs, risks and resource use, and ensure compliance with TAQA standards, UAE regulations and HSE requirements.
• Review and approve engineering designs, technical submissions, method statements and project documentation.
• Oversee installation and commissioning of transformers, switchgear, RMUs, protection systems and related electrical infrastructure.
• Prepare project reports and maintain stakeholder communication.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical substation and power distribution projects.
• Proven experience managing 11kV/33kV substation projects in the UAE.
• TAQA certification/classification is mandatory.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of utility standards, project management, testing, commissioning and energization procedures.
• Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• PMP certification is an advantage; experience with EPC, utility infrastructure and power distribution projects is preferred.
• Understanding of project controls, budgeting, scheduling and contract management is preferred.
