Public Area Attendant

About the role

The Public Area Attendant ensures that all shared spaces within the facility are clean, safe, and welcoming for guests, visitors, and staff. This full‑time position requires a keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene and presentation throughout the day.

Key responsibilities

• Clean and maintain entrances, lobbies, corridors, lifts, stairways, washrooms and other communal areas.
• Vacuum, sweep, mop, dust, polish and sanitise floors, surfaces, fixtures and fittings.
• Clean glass, mirrors, doors, furniture, signage and decorative items.
• Empty waste bins, replace liners and manage waste according to company procedures.
• Replenish washroom and public‑area supplies such as soap, paper products and sanitiser.
• Conduct regular inspections, respond to spills, stains or safety issues, and report defects to the facilities manager.
• Collaborate with housekeeping, maintenance, security and reception teams to ensure seamless operations.

• Professional appearance and courteous customer‑facing attitude.
• Ability to follow cleaning schedules, checklists and safety procedures.
• Good communication skills for reporting issues and interacting with guests.

Required skills

• Proficient use of cleaning equipment (vacuum cleaners, floor polishers, mops, etc.).
• Knowledge of COSHH regulations and safe handling of cleaning chemicals.
• Experience with waste management and supply replenishment.
• Ability to use personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly.
