QHSE Officer – Safety & Environmental Compliance

About the role

The QHSE Officer will audit, train, and guide teams to establish a culture of safety and operational excellence. The ideal candidate identifies workplace hazards, maintains ISO certifications, and ensures compliance with environmental laws to protect employees and the business.

Key responsibilities

• Enforce Permit‑to‑Work (PTW) systems, Job Safety Analyses (JSA) and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments (HIRA) on a daily basis.
• Conduct regular safety inspections of high‑risk tasks such as confined space entry, work at heights, lifting operations and hot work.
• Lead incident investigations using Root Cause Analysis techniques such as TapRooT and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Manage emergency response protocols and coordinate drills for gas leaks, blowouts, oil spills and medical evacuations.
• Maintain ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 29001 compliance and monitor environmental metrics including chemical storage safety, hazardous waste disposal and flaring compliance.

Required profile

• NEBOSH International Diploma or IGC (Grade A/B), IOSH Managing Safely and, where relevant, BOSIET/FoET certifications.
• Minimum five years of active safety experience in upstream or downstream oil‑and‑gas operations.
