Railway System Engineer (T&C Engineer)

About the role

RINA is recruiting a Railway System Engineer (Railway T&C Engineer) for its office in Al Ain, within the Electronics and System Engineering Division. The engineer integrates, verifies and optimises railway systems so that they operate safely, reliably and efficiently, acting as Testing & Commissioning Engineer for the project of appointment and working with the System Engineering and System Assurance teams.

Key responsibilities

• Verify and validate that railway systems meet project requirements, standards and laws, and manage all V&V plans and activities including FAI, FAT, SAT and SIT/SPT trials
• Define system requirements and architecture, select technologies and configurations, and manage subsystem interfaces through their lifecycle
• Ensure interoperability between rolling stock, signalling and infrastructure, and validate compliance with standards such as EN, NFPA and ETCS/ERTMS
• Optimise capacity, energy consumption and reliability, and support upgrades, modernisation, asset management and maintenance planning
• Implement IoT, AI and Big Data solutions, Digital Twin, Remote Monitoring and Smart Signaling

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum 5 years of experience in testing and commissioning of railway systems
• Experience in integration/system engineering for railway systems and in sustainability-focused design, construction and operation
• Experience with mixed traffic operations (high-speed, freight, commuter trains)

Required skills

• Rolling stock, signalling (ETCS, CBTC, PTC, interlocking), electrification (25kV AC, 750V DC, 3kV DC) and track infrastructure
• CENELEC standards (EN 50126, 50128, 50129), ETCS/ERTMS, IEC 62290, UIC/AAR/FRA regulations
• Systems engineering tools: DOORS, Enterprise Architect; ReliaSoft, FMECA, FTA
• MATLAB, Simulink, CATIA; V-Model, Agile or Waterfall
