RAN & Wireless Engineer

About the role

Edara is looking for an RAN and Wireless engineer in Dubai to monitor and support radio access networks (2G/3G/4G/5G and FTTA) from vendors such as Nokia, Huawei and Ericsson. The role covers network surveillance, alarm handling, change verification and liaison with the Service Operations Centre and other departments.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor RAN nodes (Nokia, Huawei, Ericsson) via U2000, NFMP, Nokia NetAct, Ericsson ENM and Huawei Taishan
• Monitor WiFi access points and OFDM wireless links using tools such as PRTG and Cisco Prime
• Handle network and service surveillance alarms and report them within the agreed SLA according to ticket priority
• Verify mobile services after change requests and act as first point of contact for transmission faults, isolating the fault and supporting field teams
• Perform traffic rerouting, MW link capacity upgrades and node version upgrades
• Escalate critical issues to service partners, stakeholders and management following the company escalation matrix
• Control and support reactive and planned activities, and carry out additional tasks assigned by management
• Liaise between the SOC and Transport, Access Transmission, Core, Backbone Transmission and Radio Access Network teams

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Telecom Engineering
• 3 years of strong telecom knowledge and experience in 2G/3G/4G/5G/FTTA technologies
• 3 years of experience monitoring Nokia, Huawei and Ericsson RAN nodes
• Experience in wireless networks within the telecom/communications industry
• Ability to work 24x7x365, handle multiple tasks and priorities, and cope with pressure and network emergencies

Required skills

• Knowledge of Huawei, Nokia, Redline and Infinet (PTP) wireless products
• Knowledge of indoor and outdoor Cisco APs
• Monitoring tools: Huawei NCE, NFMP, PRTG, Cisco Prime
• OSS tools: NetAct, U2020, Taishan, ENM
• Knowledge of network implementation and integration processes
