Registered Nurse – Operating Theatre

About the role

The Registered Nurse – OT will deliver safe, compassionate, and individualized care to surgical patients throughout the peri‑operative journey. Working in the operating theatre, the nurse collaborates with surgeons, anaesthetists and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Perform systematic patient assessments, develop and evaluate care plans in partnership with the inter‑professional team.
• Act as Circulating Nurse or Scrub Nurse during surgery, handling instruments, maintaining asepsis and monitoring equipment.
• Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products and provide wound‑care management.
• Support patients in the recovery room, monitor vital signs and manage post‑operative complications.
• Document patient information accurately, manage specimen handling and maintain surgical inventories.
• Educate patients and families about health conditions, treatment plans and post‑operative care.

Required profile

• Valid licence to practice as a Registered Nurse with the relevant UAE health authority.
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support Provider card.
• Ability to communicate clearly in English, both spoken and written.
• Willingness to work across departments as needed.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
• Neonatal resuscitation and airway management.
• IV therapy, blood product administration and medication administration.
• Wound‑care management and aseptic technique.
• Use of electronic medical record (EMR) systems for clinical documentation.
• Surgical instrument handling and inventory management.
