Research Assistant in AI‑Driven Autonomous Systems

About the role

The Department of Computer & Network Engineering (CIT) at United Arab Emirates University seeks a Research Assistant to join a funded project on next‑generation intelligent autonomous systems. You will work on AI agents and large‑scale models that enable advanced reasoning, planning, and decision‑making for safety‑critical applications such as autonomous driving, UAVs, and 6G‑enabled networks.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and benchmark AI‑driven reasoning and adaptive agent architectures.
• Design, implement, and evaluate large language model (LLM) pipelines, including fine‑tuning and deployment.
• Create and curate datasets, train models, and assess performance on complex scenarios.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate AI solutions into simulation environments (e.g., CARLA, AirSim).
• Contribute to research publications and project reports.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a closely related field.
• Strong background in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Generative AI.
• Proficiency in Python and deep‑learning frameworks such as PyTorch.
• Experience with Large Language Models and fine‑tuning techniques.
• Ability to work with large‑scale datasets and distributed GPU‑based systems.
