Research Assistant – Mechanical/Aerospace Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Mechanical/Aerospace Engineer to support a one‑year university CubeSat mission. The role involves thermal analysis, CAD modeling, structural analysis, and hands‑on Assembly, Integration, and Testing (AIT) of the satellite, working closely with subsystem teams and student engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Perform thermal and structural/finite‑element analyses for the spacecraft.
• Create 3D CAD models and detailed engineering drawings.
• Develop interface documents, test procedures, and technical reports.
• Support hands‑on satellite assembly, integration, and environmental testing in a lab or cleanroom environment.
• Ensure mechanical interfaces are robust, manufacturable, and compliant with tolerances and material specifications.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and creation of engineering drawings.
• Experience with thermal and structural analysis for aerospace or precision mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of materials, fasteners, tolerances, and manufacturing processes.
• Comfortable working in a lab/cleanroom and supporting hands‑on satellite activities.
