Research Assistant – Psychology in Political & Economic Systems (PIPES)

About the role

NYU Abu Dhabi invites applications for a Kawader Research Assistant Fellow position in the Psychology in Political and Economic Systems (PIPES) Lab under the supervision of Dr. Jennifer Sheehy‑Skeffington. The role involves contributing to interdisciplinary research on how psychological processes are shaped by societal conditions such as economic inequality, political polarization, and market integration.

Key responsibilities

• Design research protocols and experimental scripts; collect human‑subjects data in lab and online settings.
• Clean and analyse data using SPSS or R; contribute to academic manuscripts and potentially earn co‑authorship.
• Prepare and oversee IRB protocols and ensure ethical compliance.
• Monitor the lab’s adherence to open‑science practices and manage research project timelines and budgets.
• Coordinate lab meetings, research discussions, and academic conferences; supervise undergraduate research assistants.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology or a related field.
• Experience with statistical software (SPSS or R) and experimental tools (Qualtrics).
• Familiarity with IRB processes and ethical compliance.
• Strong organisational, multitasking, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Intellectual engagement with the PIPES Lab research agenda.
