Resident Engineer (Structures) - New Build Projects

About the role

An international engineering and supervision consultancy needs a well-experienced Resident Engineer (Structures) to join its team in Abu Dhabi, UAE, on a new build project. The role is an initial 8-month contract as an outsourcer, employed by J10 Consulting, and is open to immediate joining.

Key responsibilities

• Manage full-life-cycle projects within scope, schedule, checklist and budget, meeting or exceeding quality standards
• Lead the project management plan covering scope, procurement, production, design, communication, cost, time, risk, human resources and delivery
• Run quality inspections and coordinate subcontractors, design teams and clients
• Ensure health and safety measures are followed, with HSE involvement and continuous team training
• Coordinate materials, quotations and vendor checks, and follow up on subcontractor production (metal, glass and other materials)
• Check supplier and subcontractor invoices and prepare final settlements
• Plan site resources, organise team schedules, transport and material delivery, and arrange material samples and orders
• Control quality at site before handover and in the workshop before delivery, and visit suppliers and production sites regularly
• Enforce site rules and procedures, and contact regulatory authorities to obtain the completion certificate

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field; MSc in Structures preferred
• Minimum 10+ years of relevant experience in new build projects
• At least 5 years in the UAE, with at least 3 in a recognised PMC or lead engineering consultancy
• Excellent written and spoken English
• Proven ability to perform in a lead capacity on a programme

Required skills

• Comprehensive knowledge of construction processes and industry practice
• Familiarity with construction management software packages
