Safety Officer - Contracting

About the role

Careers International is hiring a Safety Officer for a contracting position in Dubai. The officer oversees safety practices and policies at construction sites, ensures compliance with local, state and federal regulations, carries out regular site inspections, identifies hazards and implements measures to prevent accidents and injuries.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure construction activities comply with safety regulations, company policies and industry standards, and develop, implement and enforce safety programs and procedures.
• Conduct regular inspections against OSHA and other relevant regulations, and perform risk assessments and hazard identification.
• Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, and monitor work practices and equipment.
• Deliver safety training such as toolbox talks, safety drills and emergency response training, and promote a safety culture.
• Maintain records of inspections, incidents and corrective actions, prepare safety reports for management and regulators, and develop emergency response plans and drills.
• Ensure PPE and safety gear are available and used correctly, and manage procurement and maintenance of equipment such as fire extinguishers, first aid kits and safety signage.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health or a related field (preferred).
• At least 3 years of experience as a Safety Officer, preferably in construction or contracting.
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP), OSHA certification or equivalent preferred.
• Strong observational and analytical skills, excellent communication and training skills, and ability to work independently under pressure.

Required skills

• Knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety standards and risk assessment practices.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite; familiarity with safety management software is a plus.
