Safety Officer (MEP)

About the role

A full-time Safety Officer is needed to support HSE compliance across MEP construction activities in the UAE. The role monitors daily site conditions, promotes safe work practices, runs inspections and toolbox talks, and helps prevent incidents on high-risk MEP tasks such as lifting, hot works, work at height, confined spaces, electrical works and testing.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct daily HSE inspections across MEP work areas and report unsafe acts, conditions and non-compliances.
• Support toolbox talks, safety inductions, awareness sessions and site-level HSE campaigns.
• Monitor permits, PPE compliance, housekeeping, work at height, hot works, lifting, electrical safety and access control.
• Coordinate with engineers, supervisors, subcontractors and labour teams to close safety observations promptly.
• Maintain HSE records including inspection reports, toolbox attendance, observation logs, incident records and corrective actions.
• Support incident reporting, preliminary investigations and preventive actions.
• Promote a positive safety culture while supporting site progress and operational discipline.

Required profile

• NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent HSE qualification.
• Minimum 4 years of construction/MEP site safety experience.
• Experience working with blue-collar site teams, foremen, engineers and subcontractors.
• Ability to work under site pressure while maintaining safety compliance.

Required skills

• Good understanding of site safety practices, permits, PPE, risk assessments, toolbox talks and incident reporting.
• Strong communication, observation, reporting and follow-up skills.
• Desired: UAE/GCC construction project experience, first aid or fire warden training, and experience in high-rise, hospitality or mixed-use projects.
