Secondary Teacher of English and English Literature

About the role

Safa Community School, an award-winning all-through UK curriculum school (FS1 to Year 13) in Dubai, is looking for a secondary English and English Literature teacher to join its secondary department. The successful candidate will teach across the age and ability range, covering GCSE and A-Level, as part of the school's growth to meet rising student enrolment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and prepare courses and lessons, set and mark work, and assess, record and report on student progress and attainment
• Use data to inform teaching, track progress and put in place timely interventions
• Prepare students for public examinations, attend related meetings and communicate with parents, including writing reports and attending Parents' and Open Evenings
• Maintain good order and discipline in the classroom and take part in departmental meetings and policy work
• Keep up to date with curriculum innovation, take part in CPD and contribute to professional development
• Work with support teachers, monitor and support a beginning teacher, set work for absent students and colleagues, and take responsibility for a designated area of the curriculum or a project
• Familiarise yourself with the DSIB inspection framework and support UAE initiatives and cultural expectations

Required profile

• Relevant qualifications
• Experience teaching in British curriculum schools, including IGCSE and A-Level
• Enthusiasm for the subject and an understanding of assessment and examination requirements for KS3, KS4 and KS5
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and to keep up to date with subject developments
• Willingness to take further training within the department or elsewhere
