Senior Accountant

About the role

WAHA AIR is seeking an experienced and detail‑oriented Senior Accountant to manage the company's accounting, financial reporting, taxation, payments, and day‑to‑day financial operations. The role requires independent handling of the full accounting cycle and strong knowledge of UAE accounting practices, VAT, corporate tax, and audit requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day accounting and bookkeeping activities, maintaining accurate records of all financial transactions.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including profit & loss, balance sheet, and cash‑flow statements.
• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable, monitor customer balances, and follow up on collections.
• Handle supplier invoices, payment schedules, and perform regular bank and cash reconciliations.
• Calculate and file UAE VAT returns and support corporate tax calculations and compliance.
• Maintain proper accounting records in line with UAE regulations and prepare documentation for audits and tax inspections.
• Assist management with budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and project‑based costing analysis.
• Coordinate with external auditors, tax consultants, banks, suppliers, and customers as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Senior Accountant or General Accountant, preferably in the UAE.
• Strong knowledge of UAE VAT, corporate tax, accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, bank reconciliation and financial reporting.
• Experience in project‑oriented companies (e.g., HVAC, MEP, construction) is a strong advantage.
• High attention to detail, analytical and problem‑solving skills, and ability to work independently.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
