Senior Accountant – Maritime

About the role

Careers International is recruiting an experienced Senior Accountant for a ship owner or ship management company based in Dubai. The role covers financial and administration operations, working closely with the Operations and Commercial departments. Arabic speaking is preferred.

Key responsibilities

• Handle local and foreign bank accounts: payments, bank reconciliations and account opening.
• Assist with account settlement and auditing.
• Review invoices against the terms and conditions of charter parties and contracts of affreightment.
• Monitor collections, perform accounts receivable control and assist in cash management.
• Verify and process supplier invoices, matching purchase orders with invoices and payment terms.
• Check monthly expenses, reconcile them and compare actuals with projected and budgeted figures; verify the petty cash account.
• Prepare MIS and other management reports, support the Operations team and General Affairs, and handle ad hoc reports and administrative work.
• Develop and maintain document control processes.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant with at least 3-5 years of experience in a ship owning or ship management company.
• Maritime experience is mandatory; work experience in the UAE is mandatory.
• Thorough knowledge of maritime accounting.
• Arabic speaking is preferred.

Required skills

• Hands-on experience with ERP accounting software.
• Advanced MS Excel skills and strong numerical and quantitative aptitude.
• Extremely organised, with strong multi-tasking and management skills.
