Senior Architect

About the role

We are building a startup within the Technology Innovation Institute to industrialise a secure, AI‑enabled decision‑support platform that fuses multi‑sensor data, geospatial layers, imagery and video. As Senior Architect you will own the technical architecture of this fast‑scaling product, ensuring it is secure, performant and maintainable while operating in a rapid‑delivery environment.

Key responsibilities

• Define the target architecture and reference patterns for platform, data, GIS services, LLM/agentic layer and user applications.
• Translate product and operational requirements into end‑to‑end designs (APIs, services, data flows, model interfaces).
• Lead architectural reviews, make trade‑off decisions, document ADRs and manage technical debt.
• Design integration approaches for diverse data sources, sensors, SDKs/APIs and third‑party systems.
• Establish non‑functional requirements and quality gates (performance, latency, reliability, observability, security, cost).
• Guide engineering on scalable GIS patterns (spatial databases, tiling, indexing, ETL/streaming) and LLM/agentic patterns (tool calling, orchestration, guardrails).
• Partner with DevOps/MLOps to define deployment architectures, CI/CD pipelines and release readiness.
• Support incident reviews, drive root‑cause analysis and resilience improvements.
• Contribute to recruiting, technical interviews and onboarding of new engineers.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience (60 months) in software architecture, preferably in AI‑enabled or geospatial platforms.
• Proven ability to design and deliver large‑scale, secure, cloud‑native systems.
• Experience working in fast‑paced, startup‑like environments.
