Senior Architect - Storage and Data Protection

About the role

Core42, a provider of AI-powered cloud and digital infrastructure, is hiring a Senior Architect for Storage and Data Protection. The role leads the architecture, design and implementation of storage and data protection solutions, ensuring storage platforms are scalable, resilient, cost-effective and aligned with Cloud and HPC business requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end architecture and design of multi-petabyte-scale block, file and object storage for cloud environments, with high availability, performance, scalability and compliance.
• Define storage and data protection architecture standards, roadmaps and service evolution across the platform portfolio.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to turn requirements into scalable technical solutions, and evaluate, select and design storage and backup technologies.
• Support disaster recovery strategies, including data integrity, availability, RPO/RTO and recovery validation.
• Support capacity planning, performance analysis and lifecycle management; conduct architecture reviews and configuration assessments.
• Prepare, review and approve HLDs, LLDs, SOWs, BoQs/BoMs, RFIs, RFPs and RFQs, and support procurement with technical specifications and vendor evaluations.
• Oversee deployment readiness, implementation quality and acceptance testing, and mentor engineering teams.
• Design observability and logging systems, and contribute to process improvement and documentation.
• Comply with G42 policies, attend mandatory security, privacy, business continuity and HSE training, and report incidents.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, software engineering or a related field.
• 10+ years designing, implementing and managing storage solutions, including 5+ years with software-defined storage (block, file, object).
• Expert knowledge of storage architecture, data protection and disaster recovery.
• Experience with large-scale and geo-distributed storage clusters.
• Strong understanding of encryption, hardening, security controls and compliance.
• Ability to deliver large-scale infrastructure or cloud platform projects and to write technical documentation.

Required skills

• Storage protocols: iSCSI, S3, NFS, NVMe over TCP.
• Platforms: IBM, NetApp, Dell EMC, Pure Storage, HPE, VAST Data; object storage (Ceph, MinIO, Scality, Cloudian, Qumulo, Dell ECS) is an advantage.
• Cloud-native backup and DR for OpenStack (Trilio, Hystax, Rubrik, Zerto) is highly desirable.
• Linux administration and scripting (Bash, Python); API concepts (HTTP, REST, Swagger/OpenAPI, gRPC); IAM (PKI, LDAP, OAuth, OpenID Connect).
• Advantageous: TOGAF or Zachman, ITIL basics, storage and cloud certifications.
